If you’ve found the perfect house and want to purchase it through a Shared Ownership scheme, then Chapter Law are your trusted conveyancers to handle the legal side of things.
What is Shared Ownership?
Shared ownership is a scheme available on certain properties, that allows buyers to purchase a share of the property, rather than fully owning it.
Shares are usually available between 10% and 75% of the total property, and the price to own that share usually reflects that.
This means you can begin your property ownership journey with significantly lower costs than owning a property outright.
Shared Ownership properties tend to be newer builds. Once you own the share, you pay off your share of the property, as well as rent on the remaining share of the property. If you want to increase your share, you can, by purchasing more in future. This is known as “staircasing”. Buying a shared ownership property and staircasing both require a conveyancer to help with the legalities, so make sure you choose one you can trust.
